At Hamaspik HomeCare, Gina is a New York State Certified PCA (Patient Care Assistant), where she works one on one with her client Michael A.
Some would say Michael is antisocial, but with the special connection with Gina, he's humorous, gentle, animal lover and artist. Michael has a slight agoraphobia and would be content to spend days in his home drawing, playing video games and petting his dogs. With humor and encouragement, Michael has not only enjoyed outdoor activities within his community, he volunteers at an elderly Caring Community in Washington Square, Greenwich Village. There, Gina and Michael volunteer their time assisting the lunch hour Attendance Desk and Computer Lab. With Gina, Michael has also volunteered at the The Salmagundi Club sign-in desk. Patience and persistence has helped Michael come out of his shell. Using humor and making bets of Harry Potter (non-alcoholic) "Butter Beer," allows Gina be more of a friend, and older sister, than his PCA. Building a friendship with an allowance to be himself, to speak his mind; to guide him through socially nuances in real time, he has developed him into a mature young adult.
